It’s 2021. The pandemic is still shutting down the planet. Borders are closed for a few months now. The winter is cold and long. On May 16th the border to Italy opens up again. At 3.30 am in the morning we get in the car and drive down to the coast and take the ferry to discover the Island of Elba. The sun on the skin, the sea, the smell of rosemary in the air - you could feel free again after a devasting time locked down at home. It was one of the nicest short trips ever.
